Meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 am at the Graceland Bob Evan’s Restaurant (group does not meet in July or August). This is a Christian Fellowship group that also helps worthy causes such as Jacob’s Porch, LSS Food Pantry, etc. Each month a different person asks the blessing for the breakfast and we also have devotion. A free-will offering is taken and the money is used for various worthy purposes. There is usually a lot of lively conversation and laughter.
Every woman in the church is part of Women of Evangelical Church in America. WELCA is a national group under our church – 25 years this year. Our mission is to study God’s word and do his work. Circles, sewing group, prayer shawl group, and social group are all part of WELCA. The National WELCA Convention is held every three years. Every two years is the State Convention, and locally this convention is held annually.
Meets the first Tuesday of the month at 1:00 pm. We have mutual Fellowship and Bible Study, and develop our Spiritual lives together. Each Christmas, we deliver cookies to about 20 shut-ins. We also take collections for the food pantry and serve Lenten luncheons.
Prayer Shawl Circle
Meets the first and third Fridays of the month from 9:30-11:00 am. The ministry of the Prayer Shawl Circle provides comfort physically and spiritually. Shawls are knitted or crocheted and are presented to those in need of comfort and solace – people undergoing medical procedures, during illness and recovery or experiencing bereavement – and in celebration, such as following the birth of a child. Part of a national ministry, Prayer Shawl Circle is a blessing to those who create, as well as those who receive the shawls. Several people are unable to attend the Friday circle meetings, but are still an essential part of this ministry, working from home, being with us in spirit, and continuing to be connected with our church family in prayer and outreach.
Sarah Circle is part of WELCA. The focus is on fellowship and bible study with mission of outreach.
Meets on the fourth Thursday of the month from 9:30am-1:00 pm (except the months of July, August and December). This group is Fellowship for those who like to sew. We make walker bags, lap quilts and other sewing projects for those in need. At noon, we stop sewing to eat our packed lunches and dessert made by one of the members.
Meets the third Wednesday of each month at noon (except the months of June, July, August and December). The purpose of this group is to provide Fellowship, fun and “education” by way of a variety of speakers and entertainment. Donations collected monthly pay for programs if necessary and contributions to various organizations (i.e. Food Pantry). Everyone is welcome to join us for this potluck lunch program.
Meeting days and times vary. The purpose is to create a positive sense of discipleship through various activities. Upcoming events include a retreat, servant events, worship leadership and fun nights.
This group meets once a month, with variation in the day and time. The group serves as a social and service outlet for people in their twenty-somethings, and to create opportunities to experience the life of the church in different ways.
Share joys and concerns.
